Evidence suggests that around two thirds of the UK population die without having made a will.

A properly drafted, up to date will can help avoid:

  • uncertainty and distress for grieving family members
  • unintended beneficiaries from receiving your estate
  • potential added costs in winding up your estate, eg tracing extended family members
  • potential claims against your estate

The cost of drawing up a will is minimal compared to the value of assets being disposed of or the potential cost to your beneficiaries if things go wrong. However, in these financially difficult times we are conscious that some clients may put off enquiring about a will, as they are concerned about the cost.

With this in mind, we regularly review our fee structure to ensure that our products remain excellent value. However, we are also thrilled to announce that we have recently teamed up with national charity Cancer Research UK to assist with the cost of wills for our older clients.

If you are over the age of 55, we can apply on your behalf to Cancer Research UK to subsidise up to 60%* towards the cost of your will or codicil. This subsidy comes from Cancer Research UK’s fundraising budget. The offer is not conditional upon your making provision for the charity in your will. Indeed, you can continue to expect, from Bunkers, impartial, professional advice specific to your requirements.

If you would like to find out more about this service, please contact Richard Bates, partner, Bunkers Solicitors, Brighton & Hove, for further information. For further information about Cancer Research UK please visit their website, by clicking here [http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/].
